lastdisco-june09-400

This is it, the last ‘The Last Days of Disco’ whilst we take a break to work on our tans and maybe-just-maybe a one off out door secret special party… We’ll tell you more in time, but most importantly don’t miss out our June’s party, featuring two home grown acts, Cage & Aviary and Capracara, good enough to warrant the letters DFA after them.

As usual, there will be disco, there will be italo, there will be some acid house, hell there’ll even be some weird psychedelic afro rock. Come and join us.

So exactly who’s playing?

CAGE & AVIARY
Part man, part machine, part cockatiel, Cage & Aviary take flights of fancy whenever they can. Jamie Paton is a DJ, a one-finger keyboardist, and a pot-tickler. Nigel of Bermondsey is a musician, South London’s finest oscillator, and a dedicated dabbler. Together they are winners of the cosmic lottery.

Having put out releases to mini acclaim on the ltd editions that are Dissident Distribution, they have now spread their wings with new ventures for Paris-based Astro Lab Recordings, London’s Tiny Sticks, NYC’s mighty DFA and their own ‘The Walls Have Ears’ imprint.

CAPRACARA
Jonny Burnip is the latest signing to New York’s DFA record label, though he should already be familiar to those with their ears to the ground for the jacking acid twelve inch released on Soul Jazz back in 2006. Since then he has set up the exceptional History Clock label with Nathan Gregory Wilkins, released and remixed under the names Dining Rooms and Tiger Timing and is currently working with Quiet Village’s Joel Martin as Churchill’s Leopards.

SLUTTY FRINGE DJs
Swiftly outgrowing the tag of bloggers who DJ, Slutty Fringe’s John and Tony have been busy the past twelve months launching their own record label (Hot Pockets), throwing sold out parties all over town and increasingly finding their DJ services in demand at clubs up and down the country and throughout Europe.

DAVID H (BE)
Resident and promoter of both The Last Days of Disco and the sprawling indie/electro/disco behemoth that is Be at The Proud Gallery in Camden, David has entertained crowds the world over with his inspired disco selections.
